Quality Assurance of Supplies

·    In this edition, new descriptions have been provided of major sections of the manufacturing process and product approval procedures (first sample testing). An additional chapter provides information on the declaration of constituents and materials. All of the chapters were revised. The aim is to promote and advance the utilization of process oriented quality management systems. Additional suggestions and feedback from the automotive industry have been included.

·    Given increasingly shorter development cycles, project diversity and the rise in outsourcing and internationalization, intensive collaboration between clients and suppliers along the entire supply chain is of decisive significance in the automotive industry.

·    This VDA Volume is intended to serve as an aid in regulating the coopera­tion between customers and suppliers in the automotive industry. In line with the meaning of the contents presented here, an application in other areas (such as the delivery of manufacturing systems, for example) is possible.

The methods and procedures described in the following chapters, compri­sing

-          Supplier selection,

-          Quality assurance agreement,

-          Manufacturing process and product approval,

-          Quality performance in the series,

-          Declaration of constituents

are intended to enable suppliers to deliver products according to require­ments. In addition, opportunities and potential for avoiding, recognizing and resolving deviations and nonconforming products, as well as improving the quality of series deliveries are outlined and described.
