Criteria for car-washes conforming to VDA specifications Marketing and customer service

This present publication : "Car-washes – criteria for car-washes conforming to VDA specifications" has been drawn up by a working group (the members are listed above), which was formed in January 2007 in view of their coherent interests.
The starting points were :

a)   water penetration into vehicles, caused (among other factors) by
      excessive water pressures and volumes in car-washes

b)   possible optical and functional deterioration of external decorative
      and functional components on vehicles, caused by aggressive
      chemicals

Within the framework of the working group, guidelines were drawn up for :

 •     existing and future car-washes

•     the chemicals used in car-washes

 in order to prevent these problems and to permit the better adaption of car-washes to the design of cars of the future Advice is provided to car
manufacturers regarding potentially critical vehicle geometries in car-washes.

 The effectiveness of the cleaning process is not touched on in the above guidelines;
the central purpose is exclusively the reduction of damage to vehicles.
