BS EN ISO 8502-8:2004

This standard BS EN ISO 8502-8:2004 Preparation of steel substrates before application of paints and related products. Tests for the assessment of surface cleanliness is classified in these ICS categories:
  • 77.080.20 Steels
  • 25.220.10 Surface preparation

This part of ISO 8502 describes a field method for the assessment of moisture, usually caused by condensation of water, on steel surfaces prior to application of paint.

The method can be used on flat and slightly curved horizontal and vertical surfaces. The assessment should not be done on surfaces that are exposed to any falling water, e.g. rain, or condensation.

The lowest surface moisture (water) level that can be detected by the method is 4 g/m2.Refinements for considerably lowering this level are indicated in clause 8.
