1.1 This test method covers the determination of selected water-soluble pesticides and herbicides, including regulated carbamates and chlorinated acids in aqueous matrices, including ground water, surface water, finished drinking water, and wastewater, by cosolvation with methanol and filtration followed by liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry detection (LC-MS/MS).
1.2 This test method has been developed to enable a relatively rapid analysis of the selected analytes without requiring liquid-liquid extraction or derivatization.
1.3 The target analytes, CAS numbers, and reporting ranges are listed in Table 1.
1.4 Both positive and negative mode analytes are qualitatively and quantitatively determined by this test method.
1.5 This test method is restricted to use by or under the supervision of analysts experienced in the use of LC-MS/MS and in the interpretation of liquid chromatograms and multiple reaction monitoring (MRMs).
1.6 Each analyst shall demonstrate the ability to generate acceptable results with this test method.
1.6.1 The reporting limit in this test method is the concentration of the lowest calibration standard.
1.7 Units—The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.
1.8 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
1.9 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
