The big, commonly referenced IPC standards

• IPC-A-600 – Acceptability of Printed Circuit Boards
  Visual criteria for bare PCBs (etching, holes, solder mask, defects).

• IPC-A-610 – Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies
  The most famous one. Defines what “good,” “acceptable,” and “defective” solder joints and assemblies look like.

  Process-focused soldering rules (materials, temperatures, workmanship).
