Overview

The BS EN ISO 17635:2025 is a comprehensive standard that outlines the general rules for non-destructive testing (NDT) of welds in metallic materials. This standard is essential for professionals in the welding and materials testing industries, providing a framework for ensuring the integrity and safety of welded structures.

Why Choose BS EN ISO 17635:2025?

Non-destructive testing is a critical component in the quality assurance process of welded structures. The BS EN ISO 17635:2025 standard offers a systematic approach to NDT, ensuring that welds meet the necessary safety and quality requirements without causing damage to the materials being tested. This standard is indispensable for industries where the reliability of welded joints is paramount, such as construction, aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing.

Key Features

  • Comprehensive Guidelines: The standard provides detailed instructions on the application of various NDT methods, ensuring that users can select the most appropriate technique for their specific needs.
  • Versatility: Applicable to a wide range of metallic materials, making it a versatile tool for professionals across different sectors.
  • Safety Assurance: By adhering to this standard, organizations can enhance the safety and reliability of their welded structures, minimizing the risk of failures and accidents.
  • International Recognition: As an ISO standard, it is recognized globally, facilitating international trade and cooperation by ensuring consistent quality standards.

Who Should Use This Standard?

This standard is designed for a wide range of professionals, including:

  • Welding Engineers: To ensure that welding processes meet international quality standards.
  • Quality Assurance Managers: To implement effective NDT procedures that align with global best practices.
  • Inspectors and Technicians: To perform accurate and reliable non-destructive testing of welds.
  • Manufacturers: To maintain high-quality production standards and ensure product safety.

Benefits of Implementing BS EN ISO 17635:2025

Implementing the BS EN ISO 17635:2025 standard offers numerous benefits, including:

  • Enhanced Product Quality: By following the guidelines, manufacturers can ensure that their products meet the highest quality standards.

DESCRIPTION

BS EN ISO 17635:2025

This standard BS EN ISO 17635:2025 Non-destructive testing of welds. General rules for metallic materials is classified in these ICS categories:
  • 25.160.40 Welded joints and welds
This document gives guidelines for the choice of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods for welds in metals and for the evaluation of the results for quality control purposes, based on quality requirements, material, weld thickness, welding process and extent of testing. This document also specifies general rules and standards to be applied to the different types of testing, for the selection of the method, the techniques and the acceptance levels. Acceptance levels cannot be a direct interpretation of the quality levels defined in ISO 5817 or ISO 10042. They are linked to the overall quality of the produced batch of welds. The requirements specified in this document for acceptance levels for NDT conform with quality levels stated in ISO 5817 or ISO 10042 (moderate, intermediate, stringent) only on a general basis and not in detail for each indication. Annex A gives correlations between quality levels, testing levels and acceptance levels for specific testing techniques. Annex B gives an overview on specific testing techniques of standards linked to quality levels, acceptance levels and testing methods.
