The purpose of this standard is to specify the technical characteristics and their methods, as well as the design and performance requirements, for prefabricated vulcanised rubber speed reducers permanently installed on the running surface for the purpose of traffic calming on urban roads. It also specifies the minimum information in the documentation accompanying the prefabricated vulcanised rubber speed reducers. Only speed reducers prefabricated with vulcanised rubber, for permanent use on urban roads, incorporating retro-reflective elements are subject to this standard; the following are therefore excluded: those prefabricated with other types of elastomers or any other material, other than vulcanised rubber; those not equipped with retro-reflective elements; those intended for traffic calming on construction sites (temporary use); and those prefabricated for use in crossings in towns, as well as on peri-urban and inter-urban roads.
