This standard specifies the test methods and requirements for power cable systems, intended for fixed installations, for both cables and accessories separately, with rated voltages, U, above 36 kV (Um = 42 kV) up to 150 kV (Um = 170 kV). The requirements of this standard apply to single core cables, three core cables with separate insulated conductors and their accessories under normal service and installation conditions, but not to special cables and their accessories such as submarine cables, for which a modification of the tests of the standard or the design of special test conditions will be necessary. This standard does not cover transition splices between cables with extruded insulation and cables with paper insulation.
