This standard defines safety signs and beacons, colours and identification of systems and equipment used in the field of fire protection. Its field of application extends as broadly as possible to all situations where it is mandatory or useful to give public indications on the location, use and nature of: 1) the means of alert and alarm; 2) fire protection equipment and systems; 3. devices designed to prevent the spread of fire; 4. areas presenting a particular risk of fire; 5. specific prohibitions on grounds of particular fire risk. The shapes, colours and pictograms of the signs defined in this standard are standardised and therefore no variations are permitted.
