The comprehensive nature of the contents of the methods which have since been described has made it necessary to change the title of VDA publication 4. This is now entitled : "Securing quality in the process landscape". To provide a better overview and to organize more simply the greater number of sections, the publication has been divided into major groups, in which the individual sections are arranged. The division into groups is as follows : General The "General" group contains an overview of methods, the elementary aids and development processes. The "Overview of methods" section sets out all the methods, risk analyses and process models previously published by the VDA, together with their strategic objectives. It also describes the phases in which they are normally used, together with the responsibilities and personnel involved in their execution. The "Risk analyses" section contains FMEA, FTA and SWOT. The "Methods" group includes methods which have been added, such as DFMA, DMU, manufacturing feasibility analysis, Poka Yoke, TRIZ and the 8D Method. The "QFD" section has been extended. The "Process models" group includes a description of six sigma and the economic tolerance process. This group has been extended to include a section still in course of development, covering DFSS (Design for six sigma). The focus of the presentation is on the use of the process in the automobile industry and its suppliers. |
