This standard 19/30378657 DC BS ISO 19095-5. Plastics. Evaluation of the adhesion interface performance in plastic-metal assemblies is classified in these ICS categories:
- 83.180 Adhesives
This part of ISO 19095 specifies the principles for characterize the toughness for the adhesion interface performance in plastic-metal dissimilar joints in terms of the critical-stress-intensity factor, KIC, and the critical energy release rate, GIC, at fracture initiation. This test method is to provide a quantitative way of expressing a materials resistance to failure of the interface when a delaminated area or pre-crack is present at interface using compact tensile (CT) geometries.
The scheme assumes linear elastic behavior of the plastic-metal joint specimen with a delaminated area, so certain restrictions on linearity of the load-displacement diagram are imposed.
The significance of this test method and many conditions of testing are identical to those of ISO 13586 for the determination of fracture toughness of plastic materials, and, therefore, appear here with many similarities. However, certain specifications and conditions in terms of the plastic-metal joint specimens not covered in ISO 13586 are included.
