DESCRIPTION

BS 4602:1977

This standard BS 4602:1977 Specification for the use of metric units in specifications for glass containers and finishes is classified in these ICS categories:
  • 55.100 Bottles. Pots. Jars

This British Standard specifies the way in which units and tolerances for dimensions, capacity, vertical and horizontal loads and mass of glass containers including their finishes shall be expressed. The units for pressure and temperature are also given.

In certain cases, such as for very small containers, finer limits of expression may be required than those given in this standard. Alternatively, for large containers, the limits given may be unnecessarily precise. In such extreme instances, users are advised to consult with their suppliers.

Specifications shall, wherever relevant, carry a covering note to the effect that all dimensions are in millimetres (mm), capacity in litres and/or millilitres (l and/or ml) and mass in grams (g).

Preferred units and their method of expression for design data and tolerances for the body and finishes of glass containers.
