This standard BS 6262:1982 Code of practice for glazing for buildings is classified in these ICS categories:

This code of practice gives recommendations for the design, installation and maintenance of vertically glazed (see 3.40) glass and plastics glazing sheet materials for the external walls and interiors of buildings.

The recommendations in this code do not apply to:

  1. patent glazing (see BS 5516);

  2. glazing of furniture and fittings;

  3. glazing of barriers and balustrades (see BS 6180);

  4. glazing of commercial greenhouses (see BS 5502);

  5. glazing of domestic greenhouses;

  6. bent, profiled and corrugated glass;

  7. glass blocks;

  8. glass lens lights (precast and cast in situ);

  9. glass and plastics bullions;

  10. thermoformed plastics panels;

  11. corrugated plastics sheeting (reinforced and unreinforced).

NOTE 1 All dimensions given in this code for thickness are nominal. Tolerances on glass thicknesses should be in accordance with BS 952‑1.

NOTE 2 It is not possible to state individual tolerances on all the installation dimensions contained in this code. These dimensions, which are based on considered good practice in the glazing industry and assume skilled workmanship, should be reasonably applied.
