CQI-23-3 Special Process: Molding System Assessment

CQI-23:2026 establishes a common approach for assessing molding systems and strengthening process controls across a range of molding operations. Designed to complement customer-specific requirements and IATF 16949, it helps organizations and suppliers demonstrate their ability to consistently provide products that meet applicable customer and regulatory requirements. It also supports reduced manufacturing risk, improved process consistency, enhanced customer satisfaction, and continual improvement. 

The manual includes eight process tables covering injection molding, blow molding, vacuum forming, compression molding, resin transfer molding, extrusion, process control and testing equipment, and part inspection and testing. Incorporating industry experience and lessons learned, CQI-23 helps organizations identify process weaknesses, strengthen startup and preventive maintenance controls, prevent common molding defects, and improve product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
