CSN EN IEC 61300-3-14 Norma popisuje metodu měření chyby a opakovatelnosti nastavení hodnoty útlumu proměnného optického atenuátoru (VOA). Existují dvě technologie řízení VOA: s manuálním řízením a s elektrickým řízením. Tato norma zahrnuje obě technologie řízení VOA a také zahrnuje VOA s jednovidovými a mnohovidovými vlákny. Pro elektricky řízené VOA jsou někdy důležité hysterezní charakteristiky útlumu. Tyto charakteristiky mohou být měřeny podle informativní přílohy B.
