DESCRIPTION

IEEE 1374-1998

This guideline will address the design, equipment applicability and hardware installation of electrically safe stand-alone and grid connected photovoltaic (PV) power design.

Photovoltaic power system designers and installers have a wide range of utility-grade, industrial, commercial, and special purpose cables, over-current devices, disconnects, power conditionners, modules, and other optional equipment to choose from in the design and installation of electrically safe systems. The selection and application of the available equipment is not generally covered in existing standards. This guide will suggest good engineering safety practices for PV system design, equipment selection, and hardware installation.

New IEEE Standard - Inactive-Withdrawn. The design, equipment applicability, and hardware installation of electrically safe, stand- alone, and grid-connected PV power systems operating at less than 50 kW output are addressed. Storage batteries and other generating equipment are discussed briefly.
