The selection and installation of fiber optic cable for use in electric power generating stations or other industrial facilities, is not currently addressed wsithin IEEE documents. This guide will provide assistance in these areas by identifying limitations, precautions, cable construction considerations, and installation criteria, unique to or associated with fiber optic cables.

This guide is intended for cables designed for use in power generating stations and industrial facilities, in both the outside plant environment and indoor applications - the latter with adequate consideration for requirements of the National Electrical Code(R) (NEC(R).)
