This standard sets out the procedures for heat treatment to eliminate the pine wood nematode (PWN), Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, and other harmful organisms, in particular its insect vector, from the bark and wood chips of coniferous species. It also sets out the conditions that must be met for the issue of the necessary legal documents certifying the effectiveness of the treatment of bark and wood chips, which the National Plant Protection Organisation (ONPP) issues to economic operators. The procedures set out in this standard apply to the treatment of screened bark or wood chips with a size of 5 mm or greater.
