The purpose of this standard is to establish the characteristics of the signs for posting areas and the labels for materials and containers where there can be a radiation derived risk. These signs and labels are to be used, where applicable, to mark radiation areas as well as to label radioactive materials and/or their containers in nuclear and radioactive facilities and containers for transportation of those radioactive materials outside them.
