This International Standard specifies the requirements of the dimensions and material properties for shanks of rotary, oscillating or reciprocating instruments used in dentistry and gives measurement methods for the verification of the requirements. This International Standard is not applicable to scaler tips. Information about the location of marking is also given. A quality requirement is added in order to ensure a high quality level.
