This International Standard specifies a horizontal method for the detection of Salmonella. Additional culture steps for the detection of Salmonella Typhi and Salmonella Paratyphi are specified in an Annex of this International Standard. Subject to the limitations discussed in the Introduction, this International Standard is applicable to: ¾ð - products intended for human consumption and the feeding of animals; ¾ð - environmental samples in the area of food production and food handling. ¾ð - Samples from the primary production stage, such as animal faeces, dust, swabs. The selective enrichment medium for detection of Salmonella in samples from the primary production stage (MSRV) is intended for the detection of motile Salmonellae and is not appropriate for the detection of non-motile Salmonellae and/or brilliant-green sensitive Salmonella strains.
